Javier Martínez, from Valladolid, earned the nickname "El Recordman" of the professional circuit for a single, extraordinary season: in 2018 he entered 76 tournaments, more than any other player that year, winning 55 matches along the way and reaching a quarterfinal at the Paris Challenger. That season also marked the steepest rise of his career, climbing nearly 30 places in the rankings, and earned him recognition as Castilla y León's best player of the year.
