Juan Tello, born in Córdoba, Argentina, is nicknamed "El Gato", a name that reportedly comes from his father, who was also called "el Gato". He spent about seven years alongside his friend Federico "El Ratón" Chingotto, a partnership that began in Córdoba and ended in 2022, and the pair won the Las Rozas Open in 2020.

Since then Tello has been one of the circuit's most travelled players, teaming up with Paquito Navarro, Fernando Belasteguín in 2024, Eduardo Alonso, Martín Di Nenno and, in 2026, compatriot Maxi Arce. With Arce he won the FIP Platinum in Paredes, Portugal. His game is built on quick reflexes and agility rather than raw power.
