Javier González Barahona has said he dreamed of winning a World Padel Tour title from the moment his parents introduced him to the sport in Madrid in 2007, at age nine, switching over from football. He rose quickly through Spain's junior ranks, national Cadet champion in 2014, Junior champion in 2016, Sub-23 champion in 2019, and the country's top-ranked player across 2014-2016, before training under the Fundación Estrella Damm.
His professional breakthrough came at the TAU Cerámica Alfafar Challenger in 2021, won alongside Jorge "Coki" Nieto, a friend and playing partner since 2014, whom Barahona has described as a model for how to handle the transition to the professional game. His preparation has long centered on three pillars, court training, physical conditioning, and mental work, totaling more than five hours daily during preseason.
