Flavio Abbate

Flavio Abbate is a professional padel player from Italy, aged 22, standing 1.84 metres tall. Born on 31 July 2004 in Italy, he plays on the drive side and is currently ranked 52. He partners Alonso Rodriguez Martinez.

Flavio Abbate discovered padel in 2020, during the pandemic, coming from a tennis background on the island of Sicily through the Star Padel academy, and didn't commit fully to the sport until March 2022, a late and sudden switch that makes his subsequent rise against players with years more padel-specific experience notable in its own right.

Abbate made his debut for Italy's senior national team in 2025, a landmark for a player whose early goal had simply been to represent his country. Partnering Álvaro Montiel, he built one of the most consistent runs on the CUPRA FIP Tour's lower tiers in 2026, winning three straight titles in Cyprus and matching the record for FIP Tour title wins by a single player, known along the way for walking onto court to reggaeton rather than the usual warm-up routine.
